For those of you that are not sure what to buy on the market here is a system I have priced up from my self but would give you all an idea of what currently is some of the highest performance hardware there is avalible for the reasonable price.
This is not only to build it your self you can compare this with already built systems to see what’s what.
Enermax Liberty 500W Modular ATX2.2 PSU - This power supply has all the power connections you need as well as SATA power connectors, which is what is needed for this system.
Antec P180 Black SPCR Advanced Super Mid Tower - No PSU - This tower is not the smallest you need but it looks the best and keeps wires and hardware neat inside.
ASUS M2N32 WS PRO nForce 590SLI Socket AM2 SATA 8channel audio ATX - The motherboard is PCI-E this enables you to use the higher end graphics cards due to Express (E) being allot faster than standard. This advised for gaming rigs. The motherboard comes with Soundcard, Network, and USB, And SLI graphics controller for basic graphics performance or enabling dual graphics cards. THE MOTHERBOARD IS FOR AMD AM2 SERIES ONLY.
AMD Athlon 64 X2 5200+ ( 2.6GHz ) Socket AM2 2x1MB L2 Cache OEM Processor -
This is the new AM2 series AMD processor the difference being the connections to the board. Dual core enabling you to run multiple processes and run games without any holdbacks. Dual core is perfect for ripping DVD's or just running clients that demand cpu usage. I choose AMD because of the Power-Price Ratio. (You get more performance for your money)
Innovision 3D 8800GTS 320MB GDDR3 DVI PCI-E Graphics Card - This is not the cheapest but this is the new 8 Series I choose this because of its gaming performance of displaying excellent FPS (Frames Per Second) and PCI-E giving you a perfect card for gaming. Gaming cards are some of the top out there so running animations or any visual display would be just as good.
Kingston 2GB KIT ( 2X1GB ) DDR2 667MHz/PC2-5300 CL5 Non Ecc 1.8V - I would buy 2 of these kits, they are basically a kit of dual channel ram 2x 1GB sticks. I would buy 2 Packs giving me 4x 1GB because of the flexibility it gives me being able to run allot more applications and have the speed to give me top end gaming performance.
Seagate 500gb Nl35 Drive SATA Ii 7200RPM 16MB Cache - OEM - This is the hard drive I would recommend for any gaming rig with SATA first reason is the make Seagate has my 100% approval iv have been using ever since other big makes have failed me. Iv only ever head of one not dying before warranty wore out an 80GB and they were replaced with a 120GB. Iv got 3 Seagate’s in total from a 40GB when 40GB was the bee's knees and it still works perfectly same as any others. THIS IS OEM THIS HASN'T GOT ANY CABLES INCLUDED
LiteOn 20X SATA DVD±RW/RAM with Beige, Black & Silver Bezel + Nero - Retail - LiteOn are one of the most reliable on the market and surprisingly the cheapest. I would get two of these so you can copy DVD to DVD and they are SATA allowing you to copy GB's in short amount of time. It has Nero included and is a retail pack so comes with all cables.
